Ministries & Outreach

FISH

“When was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food?”

Our congregation works with FISH of Cowlitz County to distribute food and other essentials seven times each year. Over two consecutive days, local families can select the items they need from tables set up our sanctuary. FISH enables people to get food, fill prescriptions, see a dentist, pay overdue water or PUD bills, get footwear or clothing required for a new job, or fill a variety of other emergency needs.

Family Promise

“When was it that we saw you naked and gave you clothing?”

Family Promise prevents and ends homelessness for families with children and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. We prepare and deliver meals for families at the Family Promise shelter, provide Christmas gifts for children, and help with other ongoing needs.

Land Project - Sunrise Village

“When was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you?”

In partnership with Housing Opportunities of Southwest Washington (HOSWWA), we were able to develop affordable housing on church property to extend hospitality to our neighbors. In June, 2025 - we celebrated with the city of Longview with the opening of 40 new homes for low-income community members, setting aside units for families exiting homelessness, seniors, and others facing housing instability. And these homes are not cramped apartments – they include townhouses with open space for families in a neighborhood setting that inspires socializing and play.

Hagar’s Community Church

“When was it that we saw you in prison and visited you?”

Hagar’s Community Church exists to give incarcerated individuals at the Washington Corrections Center for Women a safe Christian community through which they might explore their spirituality and encounter the proclamation and experience of God’s love. We support this congregation within the Washington Corrections Center for Women through financial gifts and volunteer ministry.

Matthew 25 Movement

Longview Presbyterian belongs to the Matthew 25 Initiative of the PC(USA), committing to bold, compassionate action that addresses hunger, oppression, imprisonment, and poverty.

Deacons Ministry

“When was it that we saw you sick and visited you?”

Our deacons have a robust ministry of caring for the sick through encouraging phone calls, compassionate listening, and providing meals.

Covenant Network of Presbyterians

This mission of the Covenant Network is to strengthen the church of Jesus Christ, with the help of God’s grace.  We are called to achieve this goal by working for the unity of the church, furthering the inclusion of LGBTQ persons, seeking understanding and reconciliation, and joining with others seeking a still more just and inclusive church.

Poor People’s Campaign:

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

As a faith partner, we organize and advocate for justice alongside vulnerable members of our community, continuing the call of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for a “revolution of values.”
